Cubby
June 1, 1998 - August 19,2008.
Cubby became a Bellevue city girl after spending her first years in Salmon, Idaho. Cubby loved her new family..."Cubby brought such joy to our family and our boys loved her dearly. We'll miss her nose-pokes to the back of our knees, her drippy beard on our toes, and, I'll especially miss her coming in and napping on the floor beside me while I practice the harp. Cubby loved going to the beach and was there with us chasing seagulls, stealing our soccer ball, and running with the other dogs on the Saturday before she passed. Thank you for placing her in our home."
Hiliary (Dilly Bears)
June 17, 1994 - August 5, 2008
To our friends, family-so many who love Hiliary and have been touched by her loving soul and gentle nature-we want to let you know she crossed the Rainbow Bridge this morning. Hiliary had a special place in our family and was affectionately known as "Dilly Bears" for her gentle, loving nature. Whether it was with our grandson, Austin or our granddaughter, Isabella, she was so very understanding of their age. All Dilly wanted in life was to be loved and part of the family "huddle" with Annie, Rudy, Dave and I. She was the only dog the barn cats trusted enough to come down and rub up against.
Some of our favorite memories of Dilly Bears-she would turn into a 2 year old every time we brought a young rescue male Airedale into the yard. It was almost embarrassing how she would strut in front of them with her tail wagging off her butt. She also had her old gal "5 minutes" of play time a day, throwing toys in the air, chasing Rudy through the house and sometimes stealing his toy. Her mischievous nature made us laugh out loud. And, how could a Seattle dog hate the rain so much? Every morning Dilly made her daily trek around the back hay field, taking her sweet time to enjoy every scent along the way. That exercise and family love are probably what kept her healthy for so long. The last couple days, I would see Dilly laying out in the back yard with her nose up sniffing the air. It was as if she wanted to enjoy those sweet moments in life we all take for granted.
As Dilly aged, we kept a close eye on her. Last winter, I remember Dave carrying her into the house from the snow because he was worried she was cold and wouldn't find her way back through the gate. She adored Dave. He always referred to her as "such a petite little sweet thing". Dave held her in her final moments as she peacefully crossed the Bridge. She leaves a void in our home, but now runs healthy, happy, playing with her mate she lost several years ago.
See you again, someday, sweet girl. Thank you for teaching us a little more about the soul of an Airedale.
Jack Seneca Dashing Knave
1/31/1997 - 7/14/2008
My heart dog is gone from this earth but he will never be forgotten. It is hard to believe that a furry four-footed being could have had such an impact on my life. While my family owned Airedales from before I was born, Jack was the first dog I raised all on my own from puppyhood. The search for him brought me to the internet terrier list, and made me aware for the first time that there were people who lost or discarded Airedales--the first I had ever heard of Airedale Rescue. Jack introduced me to the phenomenon of "clicker training" and to the sport of agility. The desire to save his agility photos led me to learn how to create web pages. The need to market the tickets for the Airedale Quilting Bee quilts led to the creation of www.Airedaleterriers.org. The fact that I was by then a volunteer for Airedale Rescue and had the ability to create a web page, led to the creation of www.AiredaleRescue.net.
Jack was always my right-hand man, riding shortun on multiple trips around the state and across the nation. All of the foster dogs who have come through HardieDale Acres seemed to realize that he was top dog...his calm and confident temperament seemed to sooth the touchiest rescue. Jack was the reason I came to Airedale rescue and most of the people I now consider my closest friends came into my life because of Jack. I'll never forget you, dear friend. You will forever live deep in my heart.
Emma
Emma decided she no longer needed her body to continue the journey. She can still chase bunnies and not get tired and will always see the sun shining in the woods.
Paisley
Paisley left her loving home much to soon. She was a sweetheart to all.
